A 7-month-old infant is brought to a primary care clinic because the parents noticed that the child’s eyes “turn inward” intermittently. They report the eye deviation has become more frequent over the past month. The infant was born at term and has otherwise normal feeding and development. On examination, there is persistent esodeviation, and the corneal light reflex is asymmetric (displaced temporally in one eye). There is no fever or history of trauma. The parents ask what should be done next.
