A 28-year-old G2P1 woman at 35+0 weeks’ gestation presents to the labor and delivery unit with leaking of fluid per vaginum for 6 hours. She reports no contractions and normal fetal movements. There is no fever or uterine tenderness. Vital signs: T 37.0°C, BP 112/70 mmHg, HR 86/min, RR 16/min, SpO2 99% (RA). On abdominal exam, the uterine fundal height is 30 cm. Speculum exam confirms pooling of amniotic fluid; the liquor is meconium-stained. Cervix is closed and uneffaced. Continuous fetal monitoring shows a reassuring tracing with baseline 140/min and no recurrent decelerations. What is the most appropriate next step in management?
