A 9-year-old boy has several months of polyuria, polydipsia, and new-onset nocturia. He drinks water frequently and wakes 3–4 times nightly to urinate. Examination is unremarkable and he appears well hydrated. A supervised water-deprivation test is performed. After dehydration, urine osmolality changes minimally; after administration of a synthetic antidiuretic hormone analogue, urine osmolality increases markedly with reduced urine volume. What is the most appropriate long-term management?
