A 5-year-old boy had a generalized tonic–clonic seizure 1 hour ago lasting 3 minutes with drooling and unresponsiveness. He is now at baseline and has had no further events. For 3 days, he has had rhinorrhoea and mild cough. He has no history of seizures and is fully immunized. Examination shows mild pharyngeal erythema, normal neurological examination, and no neck stiffness. What is the most appropriate treatment at this time?
