A 15-month-old boy, previously healthy, has a generalized tonic-clonic seizure lasting 5 minutes during a febrile illness with cough and rhinorrhea that started today. After the event, he is briefly postictal and returns to baseline within 15 minutes. There is no prior seizure history and no family history of epilepsy. Neurologic examination is normal with no neck stiffness or other meningeal signs. What is the most appropriate management at this time?
