A 28-year-old woman from a sheep-rearing area is found incidentally to have a 7-cm unilocular cyst in the right hepatic lobe. Contrast CT shows a single cystic lesion with no daughter cysts or calcification, and no communication with the biliary tree. Echinococcus granulosus serology is positive. She is asymptomatic.
