A 2-month-old term boy has episodes of intense crying in the late evening, lasting about 3 hours, on at least 4 days per week. During episodes, he draws his legs up, becomes red-faced, and passes gas. Between episodes, he feeds normally, has normal urine output and stools, and is playful. Pregnancy and delivery were uncomplicated. Examination is normal and growth is appropriate. His mother asks what treatment is needed. What is the most appropriate management?
