Surgery General Surgery

Objective: OBJ-TRACH-EMERG-01

Last updated: February 2026
A 64-year-old woman is scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy for symptomatic cholelithiasis. Two weeks ago, she was hospitalized with an acute inferior ST-elevation myocardial infarction treated medically without percutaneous coronary intervention. She is now asymptomatic on dual antiplatelet therapy, a beta-blocker, an ACE inhibitor, and a statin; echocardiography shows mildly reduced left ventricular systolic function. What is the minimum recommended delay before proceeding with elective noncardiac surgery to reduce perioperative cardiac risk?
