A 64-year-old man has 3 days of worsening crampy left lower abdominal pain and several episodes of bloody diarrhoea. Examination shows left lower quadrant tenderness without guarding. CT abdomen/pelvis with IV contrast shows sigmoid diverticulitis with a 2 × 2 cm pericolic fluid collection, with no free air or diffuse peritonitis. He is hemodynamically stable and tolerates oral intake. What is the most appropriate next step in management?
