A 9-year-old boy is evaluated for short stature. He is otherwise healthy with no chronic diarrhea, fatigue, polyuria, headaches, or recurrent infections. His height is at the 3rd percentile and weight at the 20th percentile. Review of growth records shows his height has tracked along the 3rd percentile for 3 years with normal growth velocity. Pubertal development is Tanner stage I. Left hand/wrist radiograph shows bone age of 7 years. Screening evaluation is otherwise unremarkable. What is the most appropriate management?
